Women's Interfaith Evening: Workshop 9: “Marriage & Interfaith Marriage”: Ilford

1 Feb 2011 - 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Redbridge Faith Forum would like to warmly invite you and your friends and colleagues to the ninth in the series of Women’s Interfaith Workshops that they have been holding in Redbridge over the last two years.

The general aims of the workshops are:

      • To create a process of dialogue with women, which will strengthen communication between faith communities and enable women from different faiths to have healthy discussions on a range of topics of mutual interest that will help overcome ignorance, prejudice and cross barriers.
      • To create an ongoing interfaith women’s group, meeting in Redbridge during 2009 to 2011, which builds community across faith boundaries by bringing women together.
      • To promote and strengthen interfaith collaboration, so leading to a collective voice, through action projects.

It was decided, through consultation at the first workshop that we incorporate into the programme a short 10-minute presentation on one of the faith communities, and this night workshop will include a presentation on the Buddhist Faith followed by the opportunity to ask questions.

The main focus of the evening will be discussion in small groups, and then as a whole group, about the Marriage & interfaith Marriage. Some of the questions we will be addressing are:

What are the ingredients for a good marriage?

What does your faith teach you about marriage?

Is having a faith belief important in helping you choose a life partner?

What is your view on interfaith marriages?

What benefits & possible challenges might a couple from different faith backgrounds face?

Vegetarian refreshments will be provided by the Buddhist community.
