News - The Northern Rock Foundation is likely to close down at the end of this year after 17 years of grant making in North East England and Cumbria.  The remaining funds will be distributed on an ‘invitation to bid’ basis only, working principally with organisations with which they have an existing relationship.

National funding programmes

 

HMRC 2015/16 Grant Funding

Application Deadline: 31 October 2014

Grant Description: Funding is available for the UK's voluntary and community sector to provide advice and support to people who need extra help understanding and complying with their obligations and claiming their entitlements.

There are two categories:

Category One is £350,000 is specifically to target HMRC’s hardest to reach customers or those whose relationship with HMRC has broken down

Category Two is £200,000 for organisations with the expertise and infrastructure to take referrals by telephone or email from HMRC extra help service

All organisations must have significant national reach.

Places People Play - Inspired Facilities

Application Deadline: 03 November 2014

Grant Description: Grants are available for voluntary and public sector organisations to renovate or upgrade sports facilities for the benefit of their communities. Community organisations and parish and town councils are eligible for grants ranging from £20,000 to £75,000, and 70% of the overall funding will be allocated to this category.

Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust

Application Deadline: 01 November 2014

Grant Description: Grants are available to UK registered charities for a range of projects. We have specific priorities every year. In 2014, these are Music and the Arts, and the Elderly.

Regional and local funds

 

North West – ESF Community Learning Grants

Application Deadline: 27 October 2014

Grant Description: Grants are available to not-for-profit voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in the North West for projects that help 'hard to reach' people aged 19 years and older return to work.

Grants of between £1,000 and £13,500 are available per year.

East Midlands - ESF Community Grants Fund

Application Deadline: 03 November 2014

Grant Description: Funding is available for third sector organisations in the East Midlands to support people from the hardest to reach communities and individuals experiencing multiple disadvantages to access opportunities to engage and progress in learning.

Maximum Value: £ 15,000

Minimum Value: £ 5,000

Application Deadline: 04 November 2014

Grant Description: One-off grants for local voluntary and community organisations providing a project or service that benefit residents and communities across Oxford.

Grant Description: Grants are available for Birmingham-based charities (especially small charities) working to alleviate need, hardship and distress.
