Centering Prayer and InterSpiritual Awakening: London

28 May 2012 - 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Cynthia Bourgeault explores whether paths of meditation in different spiritual traditions lead towards a common point - the compassionate heart.

We are delighted to welcome The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Bourgeault to St Ethelburga's. Cynthia is one of the key figures in the current recovery of the wisdom tradition in Christianity. This evening she will explore what followers of the contemplative Christian path have in common with those from other spiritual traditions.

An episcopalian priest based in Colorado, and well known internationally as writer and retreat leader, Cynthia has worked closely with Fr Thomas Keating and Fr Bruno Barnhart and other Christian contemplative masters. She has studied Sufism, the teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff, and the inner traditions of Christianity. When she isn't teaching Centering Prayer or giving lectures around the world, she spends half the year in the solitude of a Trappist hermitage on Eagle Island, Maine.

She is the author of several influential books including The Wisdom Jesus,  andThe Meaning of Mary Magdalene - Discovering the Women at the Heart of Christianity . She has written and taught extensively on the practice on Centreing Prayer.

Note: St Ethelburga's is a small place and we recommend you book in advance for this event to avoid disappointment.
